Taking MAGLEV train to Pudong Airport

Postby long_way » Sat Mar 01, 2008 4:00 pm

Probably the easiest way to get to the Pudong International Airport from the centre of the city is by taking the MAGLEV train (Maglev is short for "magnetic levitation").

If you want to read more details about this train check out this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Maglev_Train

Briefly, this train will take you from Longyang Road Metro Station (Shanghai Subway Line 2) to the airport in 7min and 20sec at the maximum speed of 431km/h. They run every 15 minutes from 6:45-21:30. The ticket is Y50 if you don't have air ticket for that day or Y40 if you have.

Here are the pictures:

Take Line 2 Subway train to the Longyang Road station. This picture is taken on the wrong side of the waiting platform: as you can see the train is going in the opposite direction of Longyang Rd station, so to catch the Maglev train you should wait on the opposite side.

When you get off the train at Longyang Rd station you will see the signage right away, directing you towards the entrance to the Maglev Train station (it's no more than 50m away), here is the entrance:

You will buy your ticket here (prepare your air ticket if you have it):

The escalator will take you from there to the waiting platform:

You won't wait for the train more than 15 minutes:

... and then enjoy your 7.5 min ride as much as you can:
